Essay Assignment Theology I Due April 30, 2014 References: Matthew 5: 1-12 and Chapter 27 in the textbook Directions: Write an essay about the Beatitudes answering the following: 1. Choose one of the Beatitudes. 2. In you own words, tell what you think the Beatitude means. 3. Describe any person or person that this Beatitude might have applied to in Christ’s time. 4. Describe any person or persons that this Beatitude might apply to today 5. Are there any ways that you can help these people or will be able to help them in the future? 6. The Beatitudes are guides for Christian living. Do you think practicing them is hard or easy? Explain. Requirements: The paper should be about two pages, typed, using correct grammar, correct spelling, properly punctuated, and in paragraph form. In other words, grammar counts. The paper should have an Introduction, Body of the Paper, and Conclusion. The Introduction should state the chosen Beatitude and the reasons you selected the Beatitude in a clear, concise thesis sentence. The Body of the paper should address the questions above. And the Conclusion should include your observations on living out the Beatitude Specific Points 1. The paper must be typed, 12-point, with one inch margins, double-spaced. No hand written work will be accepted, so do not come in telling me of printer problems. 2. Oral discussion. Each paper will be presented to the class. This is not a reading of your paper; it is a talk about your selection of a Beatitude and who you felt best exemplified that Beatitude. 3. Your appearance counts; that is, adherence to the Holy Spirit School Dress Code Policy. The vocal quality of the talk should be audible and distinct. The content of your presentation should be clear and to the point. The time should be 3-5 minutes. Deduction for Late Papers: 10% will be deducted from the total grade each day for papers turned after April 30th.
