The Gospel is Good News!
• Mk. 1:1 - “The beginning of the gospel {good
news} about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”
• Rom. 1:16 - “I am not ashamed of the gospel
{good news}, because it is the power of God
for the salvation of everyone who believes…”
• Mk. 16:15, 16 - “Go into all the world and
preach the good news to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be
saved…”
The Birth of Jesus is Good News
• The angels announced, “Do not be afraid. I
bring you good news of great joy that will be
for all the people. Today in the town of
David a Savior has been born for you; he is
Christ the Lord.
• Without the birth - no death!
• Without the manger - no cross!
• Without the story of Bethlehem - no story of
Gethsemane, Golgotha, and the empty
tomb!
Mark 1:1-8
1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2 As it
is written in Isaiah the prophet: "BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;
THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE
READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS

4John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of
repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5And all the country of Judea
was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were
being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. 6John
was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist,
and his diet was locusts and wild honey.
7And he was preaching, and saying, "After me One is coming who is
mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of
His sandals. 8"I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with
the Holy Spirit."

We can announce the good news to
others as well!
• People will respond to the good news.
Jesus Brought the Good News!
• He is the subject matter of the Gospel!
• His coming was the fulfillment of God’s
plan.
• There is salvation in none other!
• Simeon said of his birth, “This child is
destined to cause the falling and rising
of many…” (Lk. 2:34).
We Can Experience the Good News!

We can have hope!
We can have peace & contentment
The Good News of Jesus can change
our lives!
A Beginning and An End
• The birth of Jesus marks the beginning
of the Gospel - man’s opportunity to be
saved.
• If there was a beginning - there will also
be an end! One day the offer will be no
more, and it will be too late.
• Don’t let the good news become bad
news!
