In recent years the Club has seen a diminishing playing membership which threatens its future as it becomes more and more difficult to field a competitive team throughout a full season of fixtures. The committee has therefore decided to reduce the Club’s commitment to a few prestigious occasions in the hope that it will appeal to new players and thus secure its future through the next generation of members. Whether playing in a home match in the idyllic setting of Vine Lane or away against the Royal Household in the shadow of Windsor Castle and against the Cross Arrows CC at Lords; the enclosed programme, for 2012, provides a mouth-watering prospect of quality opposition at classic cricketing venues. We are sure that the whole package will appeal to the RAF’s cricketers, both ‘new blood’ and ‘old hands’ alike. There are also opportunities for great social events including a dinner in the exclusive Long Room in the Lords Pavilion for those who show commitment to the Adastrians throughout the season. The Lords academy will be the venue for our pre-season net session and the annual dinner, open to old and new members, will be held in the impressive surroundings of the RAF Club on the edge of Green Park in central London. We will be working closely with the RAF Eagles and Under 25’s squads in 2012 to reestablish the Adastrian CC’s place in the development of young RAF players. We will do this by ensuring a suitable standard of opposition to challenge young players and by providing player feedback to the RAFCA coaching and management organisations.
