There have been numerous life-changing incidents in my little existence. Every new
experience has been the first experience at some point. Each incident, for better or worse,
altered the trajectory of my life. But being a part of BTS's 'ARMY' fandom has been the most
transformational experience. It's been an emotional and exciting roller coaster of fangirling
BTS, appreciating who they are and what they advocate for, and coming to know and adore
the fans who love and appreciate them as well. BTS was introduced to me in 2013, although I
was not a fan at the time. However, when I was scrolling through Youtube suggestions and
came across the music video for 'Save Me,' I couldn't stop myself. I started watching more of
their music videos and listening to their songs on Spotify. I realised I'd been drawn into a new
dimension, a new planet or universe of brilliance, from that point on.
This year has been particularly difficult for me in terms of university and life in general, for a
variety of reasons. Despite the fact that I was stressed and weary for the majority of the day,
listening to BTS and watching Run BTS! were excellent ways to ease my anxiety and stress.
BTS has the ability to conjure a medication that makes me giggle and make me feel better
about myself. The importance of music's power and its status as a universal language is
something that many people are unaware of. Many people, even if they don't comprehend or
know what BTS is singing about at first, enjoy their songs. When I interpret the lyrics and
look into the depth, sentiments, and understanding that BTS puts out in their music, I
appreciate, adore, and admire them even more.
The amazing thing is that they are a team of talented, wonderful people who genuinely want
to engage with youths in order to change the world. Their UNICEF campaign #EndViolence
#LoveMyself is an example of this, and as young leaders in our society, we must encourage
and support any campaign or initiative that will make our world a better place.BTS was the
first to encourage me that I should love myself. Perhaps I should first love myself before
attempting to love another, whether in friendships or romantic relationships. They've had a
significant impact on me. In a positive way. I have the impression that I am gentler. Or, at the
very least, more sensitive to the world's treatment of me. It makes me think twice about my
decisions and the consequences they might have on others. Their song conveys the storey of
how, despite all of life's heartbreaks and grief, we must always rise again. Even if we don't
have anything, we can still pick ourselves up. Every time I stumble, I rise again. We're the
generation of youth. We're too old to be treated like children, yet we're too young to
understand what's going on in the world. No one has the authority to dictate us how to do
things. Every one of us has a different life. Even my parents and siblings have lives that are
very different from mine. Even if I grew up in the same neighbourhood as someone else, I
have different feelings and thoughts. No one can help us except advice.
Another song written by the band's frontman, RM, is called Seoul. Seoul tells about how,
despite all of the drawbacks that a capital city has, he still adores Seoul, that it has become his
home, and that he could never leave. I, too, am a product of a capital city, having been born,
raised, and currently residing there. It is still my home, despite all the skyscrapers, cars,
buses, and motorcycles, pollution, tension, motionless people, and everything else you'd
expect from a metropolis. I'm familiar with the area, yet it's still unfamiliar to me. It changes
constantly, which may explain why I'm so adaptable. Strong enough to deal with the tension
that comes along with it as well.
My personal growth and experience may not have a direct impact on those around me, but it
is possible that something will. Self-acceptance and love aren't always simple; for some, it
takes time and is a lifelong process. This is due to the understanding that there is no such
thing as the past or the future. And everything we do right now determines how the next one
will unfold. We have the power and freedom to accept oneself completely and
wholeheartedly in every present second, and when we depart from that state of being, we
instantly drag that current second down. We don't have limitless time, which is why every
second we can embrace and accept ourselves for who we are matters so much, even if we
aren't yet where we want to be.
The internal debate is the most critical beginning point for all change. Realising the strength
of the current moment while simultaneously seeing its fragility offers us insight on how
valuable each moment is and how empowering it can be to boldly determine that you are who
you are, and that is okay. You will only develop tougher and become a better and more loving
version of yourself if you continue to accept yourself and perform the inner effort when you
find yourself falling.
