Solve the following problem and show your solution(s). Use A4 bond paper. Bind/staple/clip the
pages. Be sure you have your name reflected in the front page.
1) The figure below (Fig 1) represents a simplified pipe network. Flows for the area have
been disaggregated to the nodes, and a major fire flow has been added at node G. The
water enters the system at node A. Determine the flow in each pipe by Hardy Cross
method. Re-draw the pipe network showing the calculated flow for every iteration (at
least 4 iterations). Use Hazen-Williams C = 100 for all pipes.

2) A pipe 6 cm in diameter, 1000 m long and with f = 0.018 is connected in parallel
between two points M and N with another pipe 8 cm diameter, 800 m long and having f =0.020.
A total discharge of 20 L/s enters the parallel pipes through division at M to rejoin at N (Fig.2).
Estimate the division of discharge in the two pipes
