Should nanotechnology be applied as an experimental treatment against cancer?
Using nanotechnology to solve medical problems is becoming one of the most controversial
topics in the medical area. As the topic says, one of the applications of this technology
consists on a treatment able to cure many types of cancer. But unfortunately nanotechnology
have both, pros and cons.
Of course, as every new treatment, it has unexplored reactions on humans. In other words, the
treatment has been proved in animals and it has had a good effect, but we still don’t now
completely the consequences in human beings. For this reason, it would be a matter to human
rights to look out for the risks to which someone would be exposed if this kind of treatment
were currently used in humans.
On the other hand, it can have many pros and advances in healthcare because of its expected
efficiency. By this, we talk about the speed with which it acts against the cancer and how it
does it by locating the tumor quickly and fighting against it to destroy it without long
treatments that can sometimes affect healthy parts of the organism.
In summary, nanotechnology as an experimental treatment can have bad and good
consequences, but in our personal opinion, we think that the benefits worth the risks. So,
answering the question planted, we think that nanotechnology should be applied as a
treatment and that in a near future it will probably become the cure of cancer.
