“Up bringing the Future”
Education plays a vital role in the life of all mankind. It is one of the sole reason why we
can survive in this world and why most of us have a better life. And it's a responsible of our
government to provide a good education for all. That's why, last 2012, the Philippines launched
a new curriculum, "The K to 12" that aims to produce a holistically developed Filipino, globally
competitive, and a 21st century learners that are innovative, IT and media expert, has a good
communication skills, career and life skills. Hence, adding two more years in basic education can
help to attained it and provide a lifelong learning.
Changing from one curriculum to another is no joke. It will back us from the basic and it
will add additional expenses to the government. They need to produce new learning resources
that is needed to cater all the needs of all learners and most especially provide trainings and
upgrade the skills of all teachers to make them pedagogically prepared in teaching the new
program. And it's a great challenge on the part of the government to provide it all. Not only for
the part of the government but also to the part of the parents, especially to those parents belongs
to poor household, though education is free here in the Philippines but adding two (2) more years
in education is additional burden to them because it only means additional expenses for
transportations, foods, clothes, and many more. And also there is forgone income from children
who are students and their parents can't wait another 2 more years to get education and help them
to family expenses.
I appreciate the effort of our government to provide a good education for all Filipino
learners but this drastic change is very alarming. I know that our government only wants the best
for us, to give us stable kind of living but it's been 7 years since the new program is introduced
and yet until now there still lack of learning resources and lack number of teachers, especially in
those remote areas. That our educational system is still in adjusting stage. But I'm still hoping
for the best, though it's a bit dreamy but still I'm expecting for the best result of it.
Embracing change is essential to growing as an individual. Change never seems natural
or that easy, it demands a lot. Having lot of problems and facing hindrance for us to attain
success is normal. What matter most is that how we face and deal with it in order to enjoy the
fruit of our hard work.
