SCHOOOL READING REMEDIATION PROGRAM IN FILIPINO
SY 2022-2023
I.Introduction
With the latest trend in the constant evolution of technology and at the midday of a new era in literacy the challenge for reading with comprehension has
always been a struggle for the young minds of our society. Reading, specifically in the Filipino language can sometimes be considered as an easy feat for
learners but fact check in the classroom scenario, it is still an intricate developmental challenge that is clearly affected by visible factors such as attention span,
memory and motivation.
Campalanas National High School reading remediation program in Filipino is a stepping stone that aims to maximize the reading capacities of learners
particularly in the junior high school level, Grades 7-10 from being frustration readers to independent ones. As one of the main focus of our division and the
continuous implementation of Brigada Pagbasa Program various programs were desgined. Phil-IRI Pre-Tests results showed that out of 280 learners from
Grades 7-10, 78 learners both male and female were considered frustration readers in Filipino. Such facts pave the way for the concept that there is significantly
a need for reading interventions to be implemented on the identified learners to enhance their reading with comprehension skills and we call it Campalanas
NHS “BISA” Reading Remediation Program.

4. Program Review- Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation (PRIME) of the School Reading Remediation Program.
The “BISA” – Reading Remediation Program is designed to address the reading gaps identified after the assessment provided to the learners. The school
reading coordinator in Filipino will prepare an action plan based on the results submitted by the Filipino grade level teachers. The Master Teachers and School
Principal must review the said plan before it is implemented by the Filipino language teachers and other subject teachers. The reading remediation program
implementers shall give emphasis on providing the exact remedial instruction designed to the identified learner-recipients so that the learners shall be able to
explore and appreciate the essence of reading with comprehension in Filipino. Learners are expected to love reading so that it will be effective or may “BISA”
in learning lifelong skills.
