Machine Design 2 – Multiaxial fatigue
An hydraulic cylinder with external diameter 150mm and thickness 13mm (surface
roughness Ra=0.4µm) is subjected to a pulsating pressure from 0 to 18MPa
The material used is steel C30 with UTS=570MPa and yield stress 370MPa.
It is requested to:
1) calculate the safety factor for unlimited fatigue
2) calculate the safety factor considering a number of cycles equal to 100000
