Crohn's disease: ‘Inflammation of the GI tract that extends through all layers of the intestinal wall’ - Differences: can happen anywhere between mouth - anus, healthy parts of intestine mixed with inflamed areas, can occur in all layers of bowel walls - S.S.: constant abdominal pain in right lower quadrant, palpable abdominal mass right lower quadrant, bloody stool, complications: perianal fissures,fistulas, abscesses - Clinical manifestations: result of pathologic changes where bowel becomes incapable of adequately absorbing intestinal content - Diagnosis: made on basis of clinical history, radiographic changes, biopsy findings of granulomatous intestinal inflammation - Treatment: focused on alleviating/ reducing inflammation & symptoms, similar therapeutic drugs than UC: prednisone or sulfasalazine
