Vernon Russell Guided Reflection Questions Opening Questions How did the simulated experience of Vernon Russell’s case make you feel? The simulated experience of Vernon Russell’s case went well. I was a bit nervous on not knowing what to do. But after reading the directions and assessing what is needed for his case made me feel confident and it also made me feel a lot more comfortable. Talk about what went well in the scenario. Taking Vernon Russell’s Vital Signs which included: Heart rate: 96 Pulse: Present Blood pressure: 133/79 mm Hg Respiration: 12 Conscious state: Appropriate SpO2: 97%. Temp: 99 F (37.1 C) I was still able to comprehend and go through the whole simulation/scenario It was much easier than the perview simulation/scenario Reflecting on Vernon Russell’s case, were there any actions you would do differently if you were to repeat this scenario? If so, how would your patient care change? I wouldn’t do anything differently. I think each step of the simulation was important and appropriate for the scenario. The knowledge that I would apply is being able to understand and read what is in the doctors order. So I don’t make a medical/medication error. If I was to administer a medication to a patient who is aspirating, the client would be at risk to choking. It is always important to read carefully and comprehend everything that is in the health record/ doctors order before administering anything to the client.
