Performance Task #2 Part I: POTATO TUBERS This experiment can be found in your Science book on pages 161-163. GUIDE: 1. Materials Needed: - Cup/ Any plastic container - 4 toothpicks - A potato 2. Procedures: a) Pour water into the beaker until the water level almost reaches the brim. b) Put four toothpicks around the potato. The toothpicks should be equally spaced. This will serve as a holder to keep the potato in place. c) Put the potato with toothpicks in the beaker (look at your Science book on page 161 for reference), with only half of the potato submerged in water. d) Place the setup in an area with sunlight and proper ventilation. e) Check your setup daily for one week. Refill the water in the beaker if the water level goes below the potato. f) Do not forget to take pictures for documentation! g) If there are signs of molds such as a change in smell and decay, discard the potato and REPEAT THE EXPERIMENT. 3.
