A MANIFESTO TO BE DELIVERED BY MASSAWUDU WIDAD AS
THE INCOMING SCHOOL GIRLS’ PREFECT OF ANSWARU-DEEN
ISLAMIC BASIC SCHOOL
The headteacher, teachers and fellow students, Good morning/Good afternoon to you
all. I am 100% delighted and responsible to be one of the candidates who would be chosen or
elected as a Girls School Prefect.
A school Prefect is a leader or a student who has been elected or appointed as a
represented of the headteacher and the teachers as well. And the actual duty of the
headteacher is to supervise all the situations of the school, to be normal in terms of discipline
of teachers or students (learners), in terms of teacher learner relationships and so on. Teachers
too have duties like, disciplining any learner to shape their behaviors to conform to societal
rules, it is also a duty of every prefect especially the school prefects.
Again, every human being has some hidden and diverse qualities which are often
ignored by teachers and parents. An example of this quality is leadership. Prefects are elected
or appointed every year in some schools in order to help the Staff I school carry out duties
effectively to the betterment of the school. Prefects are elected or appointed because of their
intelligence their skills in teaching or talking or even doing something. Eg. Commanding
fellow students.
1.Answaru-deen Islamic school, my dearest school is facing many challenges and
these problems have to be eliminated. Some of the problems and their solutions include the
following. Answaru-deen Islamic school is lacking TLMS that means Teaching and Learning
materials and Laboratories’ like, ICT Lab and Science Lab. These affect students (Learn)
who have low IQ to understand what is being taught to them. The solution is to report all this
to the headteacher so that he would know what he is suppose to do.
2. Answaru-deen Islamic Basic school is lacking proper windows, doors and roofing
sheets. When the school is closed, people from outside jump over the windows to sleep or
satisfy their interest and has been reports that a man has torn R.M.E exercise books of the
form 3 class due to improper windows. And such things make learners to be very disturbed
and cannot learn.
3. Answaru-deen Islamic Basic school also lacks an effective student leader. An
effective student leader must be fair but strict; who hopes not consider friends, influences
fellow learners to achieve a common good in a positive manner. This effective leader will
help the betterment of the school through his/her potentials. Some are;
His/Her style of leadership either democratic or father-type-leadership and so on.
My aim is if voted for as a girl’s prefect of Answaru-deen Islamic Basic school is to
effectively these issues I make a solemn vow that I’m going to;
1. Maintain Discipline
2. Help Staff
3. Support younger pupils
4. Report suspicious characters and so on.
But I cannot do this without your help and help is to respect the prefects including the
headteacher and teachers and abiding by the laws and rule of this school.

A MANIFESTO BY MISS AYISHATU YAKUBU AS THE ASPIRING
COMPOUND PREFECT
The Headteacher, Members of Staff, Students and Guardians, Ladies and Gentlemen.
It is great pleasure to share my ideas with you on this important day. I would like to read out
my manifesto as the aspiring compound overseer for the school. The head teacher and all
protocol observed as a compound prefect, I will try my best to keep my school’s environment
clean and healthy, I will use the saying “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. This will be
achieved through various ways which are as follows:
Firstly, I will make sure that the school has sufficient bins for students to dispose off
litter, and those bins will be placed at all corners of the classroom for pupils to drop their
litter so that school will look clean always. I will also ensure that everyone anyone who is
found littering the compound will be given appropriate punishment by the school authorities.
Secondly, I will assist in the promotion of pupils’ self-discipline. Lack of discipline
brings havoc to the entire school environment. Because the primary aim of attending school
is to study, it is my responsibility to guarantee that the environment is conducive for learning.
However, as leader, I am prepared to meet any challenges and I promise to give my
all when I am elected into power.
The headteacher, members of staff, students and guardians, ladies and gentleman, I will carry
out the above duties with my fellow prefects and teachers, to help lift the name of the school
higher.

A CHAMPAIGN SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE MISS. SAKINATU ALI ASPIRING
GIRLS’ PREFECT OF ANSWARU-DEEN ISLAMIC BASIC NINE CLASSROOM
Good afternoon, Honourable headmaster, hard-working staff, Prefects of the
school, aspiring prefects, fellow pupils! I must confess that I am overwhelmed by this
singular opportunity to launch my manifesto on this special day in my quest to become
the girls prefect of this great institution. By the grace of Allah I am academically sound
and well behaved student.
A leader is someone who inspires passion and motivation in followers. And also, a
leader is someone who ensures their team has support and tools to achieve their goals. If
given the mandate to serve, my first priority will be ensuring high sense of discipline in
our schools.
But there is a saying that goes “he who thinks he is leading and has no one
following him is only taking a walk”. I cannot do this alone; you will have to help me. My
fellow aspiring prefects, teachers and all the pupils this school. I need your support and
love.
To set the ball rolling, I will work alongside teachers to promote behaviour in the
students. I will ensure no students behave unruly and no one shows any negative
behavior. I will be sensitive to student’s problems. If any student is having a hard
challenge with their classes or any issues regarding their academics. I will help them in
any way I can.
Staying connected and in communication with students will help me have a better
sense on how they are doing and how they are doing and how I can help. I will ensure
students obey the rules and laws of the school. And to be honest, severe punishments
will be the result of “Saboteurs”. Students must understand that for every action, there
is a consequence.
Lastly, I am good at solving problems, so if my fellow aspiring prefects have any
trouble with duties assigned, I will make sure I help them out. This will ensure that the
student body of the school runs efficiently and as a team, which will reduce the extra
amount of work for teachers. Neatness will be the pledge of the school. I take an oath
today to work by my words and obey rules and I will be willing to take extra
responsibilities which will help raise the name of this institution higher. A French proverb
that goes a “Valliant couers rien d’impossible” meaning for a brave heart nothing is
impossible. I will leave no stone unturned until I see change in our school. I will urge you
all to vote for me in this quest.
