NARRATIVE REPORT
Global Climate Strike: Capacity Building on Climate Change and its Effects on Children's Welfare
SEPTEMBER 24, 2021
This event aims to encourage children to speak out on climate justice matters. Their
participation in the Global Climate Strike will realize their civil and political rights under the United
Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). This event is spearheaded by the Office of
the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA), through the Bureau of Learner Support Services – Youth
Formation Division (BLSS-YFD) in partnership with Save the Children Philippines (SCP).
The webinar discuss about the climate crisis is a result of many other social, economic, and
other crisis. It is not just single issue. It is also being tackle about the child right issue and what should
they exercise according to UN Convention on the rights of the Child.
It is also being emphasize that the “World has a fever. We need to apply the cure fast. Mr.
Marlon Matuguina discussed about the rights of children in survival, development, protection and
participation. It is being highlighted in the webinar that “Every person should take action right now.
We can start making some changes in our homes, schools, and community. Government, private
sectors and adults, already initiated some climate change adaptation and mitigation programs,
policies and interventions but those are still not enough. “THERE IS A NEED TO PUT CHILDREN AND
YOUTH’S VOICES AT THE CENTER OF IT.”
