Argument Essay Format (using “Like the Sun”)
Should People Tell the Truth all the Time?
Introduction (1st paragraph):
1.Begin this essay by discussing truth or lying. (Some questions that
might give you ideas: What is truth? What is lying? Do many people lie/tell truth?
What are children taught about truth/lying?) Don’t write anything that you will
discuss later on. Don’t write reasons why! That info is for your body paragraphs.
2. The next sentence is your argument. Tell the reader whether people should lie
sometimes or tell the truth all the time. Your sentence can begin like this: “People
should/should not lie… (You must make a choice; you can’t write about both.)
3.After your argument sentence, bring up the story title & author and that it
proves that people should or should not lie. (This sentence is your thesis.)
