Mini Projects Module for STEM Lets’ Learn by doing it … …… (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) Contact: Dr. Muhammad Jamro M.Jamro@herts.ac.uk School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science (SPECS), University of Hertfordshire, College Lane, Hatfield, Herts, AL10 9AB Concept of a Mini-Project Module A Mini-Project is shorter version of a bigger project (i.e. Final Year, Individual Major). All stages are carefully planned by experienced supervisors and moderator. There are mainly 5 fundamental stages where a learner is exposed to developing skills under supervision and limited support. 1. Research, 2. Build a Model, 3. Implement, 4. Analyse and finally 5. Report. In this module, a learner is repeating all these stages using THREE different subjects (i.e., 3 Mini-Projects). It is expected that a learner’s knowledge, skills and abilities will be enhanced to a level that after completing 3 projects, they can do one more without any supervision or at least not requiring serious supervision. The moto of this module is to develop sense of ‘Project Management’, Self-reflection and above all boosting their transferable skills (i.e. Concept of Mini-Project Module (Problem-based Learning adopting into Tasks-based learning) learning from all past and present modules will be incorporated into 3 different topical models, but with similar management and assessments).
