Dear Families, Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching! We will have our party on Monday, February 14th. We would like to do something fun and different this year! We are going to have a contest of Valentine’s Day boxes. Each child will work AT HOME on their Valentine’s box. On Friday, we will vote and we will give awards to the winners of the best boxes in different categories. DO NOT BRING THE BOXES IN UNTIL Monday!!!! Students will also be able to exchange Valentines only if they’ve brought in enough for the whole class (18 students). Any treats sent in must be store bought and individually wrapped. Rules: 1) Area of the box should be no larger than 18 ½ in (47cm) x 11in (28cm). 2) Ideas for a box include a shoebox, tissue box, cereal box, oatmeal box or toy box. 3) Must have a hole big enough to put in Valentines 4) The student must make it themselves. They can receive help from family, but not help from others in the class. Suggested materials that can be used are: Construction paper Markers Crayons Colored Pencils Ribbon Foam Shapes Stickers Streamers Craft Sticks Pictures Tissue Paper Gift Wrap Cotton Styrofoam Glitter Rhinestones Drawings Yarn Rubber Bands The following awards will be given out: Most Valentine-y Box Most Humorous Box Most Unique Box If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
