International Journal of Advanced Research, 7(2), 744– 751. https://doi.org/10.21474/ijar01/8541 Summary The paper aims at a qualitative approach to understanding the experiences of students studying Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) with regards to their needs and the challenges they face under the strand. The paper collected data from ten female students and ten male students of the Grade 12 ABM sections of Simala National High School. The paper determined three themes with the needs that the respondents related, namely ‘Clamor for Work Immersion’, ‘Demand for Learning Resources and Facilities’, and ‘Request for Skilled and Experienced Teachers’. Two themes among the challenges that the respondents shared were identified by the paper, specifically that ‘Time runs fast’ and that ‘Funds empty fast’. The outcomes of this paper provide significant guidance to the development of new learning strategies and educational strategies. Authorship The writer of this paper, Rongie C. Abella, is a college instructor teaching at the College of Teacher Education in the University of Cebu. Intended Audience The intended audiences of this paper are stakeholders in the ABM department of senior high schools, such as the school administration, the teachers, and the students experiencing the challenges discussed themselves. Similarity/Difference from other Sources This paper, like other sources, discuss the lack of experiential aspects with regards to work in the education of ABM students. There are demographic differences between this paper and other sources, seeing as the key informants are Grade 12 students of Simala National High School, which would make the results and implications of the research proper specific to the needs and challenges of them. Usefulness of the topic The topic of the paper is very relevant as the senior highschool program of the Philippines, which includes the ABM strand curriculum, is still in its early stages of development. This means that there are only a few researches centering on the experiences of ABM students with the teaching strategies and educational policies under the strand. A thorough research on the topic gives way for a better understanding of what the students need and have trouble with for the school administration and teachers of senior high schools offering the ABM strand, which might translate to an improvement on the program.
