Yung Lan (300 Words) Yung Lan, born Milan Modi, is a beat-maker, producer and former rap artist based in Virginia. His sound is incredibly diverse, channeling the huge punch of hip-hop, the catchy hooks of pop, the melodies of R&B, and pretty much everything in between! This talented artist was born on the 28th of June, 1991. Ever since he was only a kid, he had a very special connection to music. When he experienced the divorce of his parents as a child, he relocated to Richmond, where he had the opportunity to grow up in a musical household, surrounded by family members who played instruments and sang! When he was 13, Yung Lan took up rapping, and he never looked back! Initially, he used to rap when he had some free time as a hobby, but later took it more seriously. Even his mother was very encouraging and decided to invest on her kid’s talent, gifting him with legendary gear, such as a Yamaha Motif Keyboard, and a MPC 2000 Drum Machine. Although rap was a big part of Yung Lan’s creativity, he discovered something even more amazing: production! He would play all the melodies and drum beats, diving deeper into production, and learning all the tricks of the trade very fast. His sound was punchy and accomplished from the get-go, and it was clea that he was a true natural when it comes to quality production and sick beats! Besides producing his own tracks, he also collaborated with other artists and friends, including Montel Trent (aka “Young Soldier,”) who would eventually form a rap duo with him! By 2009, Yung was already focusing more on production, and he even scored his first major placement with Roscoe Dash on his “Demolition” mixtape. This was only the beginning: he turned to producing beats full time, and his list of placements is absolutely mind-blowing. From Riff Raff, to Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, Kevin Gates and Chris Brown, the list goes on and on, and it’s getting better all the time. He also produced hugely successful songs like RGF ISLAND” For Fetty Wap (which achieved platinum status), as well as Blac Youngsta’s “Booty,” which was also received massively well, going gold and selling over 500 thousand copies. The artist recently got back to rapping, and released a brand new single (his debut), named “Fake Love.” The song has been received to rave reviews and critical acclaim!
