Physical Fitness Knowledge Map:
1. Fitness: The condition of being physically fit and healthy
2. Readiness: Your body’s ability to perform daily tasks
3. Calorie: a unit of measurement. How we measure the energy in the food we wat.
4. Adipose Tissue: Body Fat
5. Aerobic Exercise: Exercise the uses large amounts of oxygen for an extended period.
6. Anaerobic Exercise: Exercise where the body’s demand for oxygen is greater than what is available during
exercise.
7. Isokinetic Exercise: Exercises by special machines to provide weight resistance. “Usually Rehab”
8. Isometric Exercise: Tightening the muscle for 5 to 8 seconds with NO BODY MOVEMENT.
9. Isotonic Exercise: An exercise where your muscles move against weight or gravity.
10. Fitt Formula: A plan to create a workout plan to increase physical fitness. (Frequency, Intensity, Type, Time)
11. Dehydration: When the body is low on water. Causes cramps, dizziness, headaches, upset stomach.
12. Body Composition: The percentage of lean muscle mass and body fat.
13. Calories in 1 pound of fat: 3500 calories
14. Principle of warm up: Exercise to warmup the muscles of your body and prepare for activity
15. Principle of cool down: Exercise to allow the heart rate and breathing of the body to return to normal.
16. Principle of overload: Creating stress through exercise to increase your muscles ability to function.
How to find Target Heart Rate:
 Resting Heart Rate
 when body is at rest
 Maximum Heart Rate
 heart rate should not go above
 (220 – Age)
 Target Heart Rate
 Optimal exercise achieved
 70 to 80 % of MHR
