COURSE SYLLABUS BUS 352-01 Investment Management SEMESTER: Fall 2021 MEETING TIMES: T/Th 3:10 PM – 4:25 PM. Email: georges.courtadon@qc.cuny.edu COURSE PREREQUISITE BUS 350. COURSE OVERVIEW This course examines portfolio investment and management. Topics include: description of the investment environment, definition and measurement of risk, market efficiency, mechanics and philosophies on how to create and manage of a portfolio including stocks, fixed income securities and derivative securities. REQUIRED 1. Textbook: Smart, and Zutter (2020), Fundamentals of Investing, Pearson, 14th edition.[SZ]. The online version of the book as well access to the homework and quizzes can be purchased directly from Pearson or the appropriate code to access the Pearson web site can be purchased from the bookstore. 2. Homework assignments and quizzes are on http:// pearsonmylabandmastering.com, See the attached instructions on page 4 to access the site. The pearsonmylabandmastering system will automatically grade your homework, quizzes, and answer keys will be given. You must submit your own work online. Quizzes and homework should be done individually and within the prescribed time limit for quizzes. There will be ten homework assignments and ten quizzes. 3. You will need a financial calculator. A knowledge of excel finance functions will be useful. 4. Midterm and final examinations will be on the Pearson site. 1 EXAMS AND GRADING POLICY The use of email and other communication devices is strictly prohibited during exams except to communicate with the instructor. Only Blackboard or Pearsonmylabandmastering should be used as a communication device during exams. Assignments and exams should be done individually. Group work on assignments and exams is strictly prohibited. In fairness to students who put in an honest effort, cheaters will be harshly treated. Any evidence of cheating will result in a score of zero (0) on that exam. Incidences of cheating will be reported to Student Affairs, which may administer additional punishment.
