Analysis:
How much do you know about Jose Rizal?
Jose Rizal is a hero that woke up the nationalism of every Filipino during colonization of the
Spaniards through writings. Because during the Spanish Colonization, Dr. Jose Rizal used his
works and writings to fight the oppression the Filipinos received from Spanish colonization. He
is the founder of La Liga filipina a nationalistic movement that aims to reform the society
without using violence. He is also a physician and an author. He studied in Spain and he is one of
the prominent ilustrados. His notable works are Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He went
by the pen names Laong Laan and Dimasalang. He's also known to be a womanizer for he has a
lot of lovers during his time. However, Leonor Rivera is his known true love. And before he was
assassinated in Bagumbayan, he wrote "Mi Ultimo Adios". He died for his country which shows
how much he values the Philippines and the spirit of nationalism. He even popularized the
saying, "ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa sa hayop at malansang isda". Thus,
because of his contributions towards the fight for the country and its people's freedom, he was
declared as the national hero.
Is Jose Rizal still relevant?
Why? Jose rizal is still relevant today, aside from being a hero who allows us to have freedom
from the Spaniards, Jose Rizal's past still reflects the present. His works and movements in
inspiring nationalistic view of Filipino people in the past may be an effective way to clear
national issue and misunderstanding, given the power of technology that are within our hands
right now it is much easier for us. We, during this time wherein we are mandatorily advised to
stay home due to the pandemic must resort to how Rizal stand for his belief towards our nation.
We must take advantage of the technology to express our devotion and contribute to the
betterment of our country. Also, students are mandated to study his life and works to cultivate
their sense of nationalism. Additionally, his novels are being read and studied by the youth, and
the belief that the youth are the hope of the country are still being used. This protects the rights
of education for the youth. Thus, he is still relevant.
Do this:
1. Jose Rizal fits in this qualification because he has a deep sense of nationalism. He is
intelligent enough to know that his country is being oppressed by the colonizers. And
as a course of action, he used his strong suit, which is writing, to make a change and
wake the sense of nationalism towards others. He aspired for the nation's freedom
despite the struggles and dangers along the way. Although he was caught and later
assassinated by doing so, he still fought for the country's freedom.
2. Jose Rizal fits on this qualification due to his eagerness, determination, and support
for the country. Jose Rizal is the one who started the revolution against Spaniards to
seek for freedom, and control his respective country, where in he fought for it, for the
country, and for the youth as well. And Jose Rizal expresses his deepest love for his
country, Philippines, through novels, essay and articles to inspire the Filipinos and
wake for the greatness of a country. Also, Jose Rizal is an humble man of the
Philippines despite of all trials and hardships against the Spaniards, he fought silently,
but effectively and worked well where in he is not an aggressive man, but an
intelligent and strategy was utilize against the Spaniards.
3. Because of Jose Rizal, the government protects the rights of education for the youth,
deemed from his famous quote, "Ang Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan". Also, his
cultivation of the sense of nationalism towards the rest of Filipinos enabled the latter
to love and fight for their country. Thus, Philippines and its people's destiny was
changed. Instead of being under foreigners' commands, Filipinos are free to decide
and handle their own country.
