SCIENCE STATIONS TOPIC: THE DIFFERENT CELL ORGANELLES OF PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS Paul Bryan Q. Fabella MST BIO STATION 1: PICTURE ANALYSIS Task: Given two pictures of cells (ANIMAL AND PLANT CELLS), the students will form a Venn Diagram listing which organelles are found in BOTH ANIMAL AND PLANT CELLS, IN PLANT CELLS ONLY OR IN ANIMAL CELLS ONLY. STATION 2: KNOW THE ORGANELLES! Task: The students are given sets of pictures. Using the functions as their clues, the students will determine the name of the organelle shown in the picture. PICTURE CLUE (FUNCTION) ORGANELLE Contains the genetic material (DNA) NUCLEUS STATION 3: JUMBLED LETTER PUZZLE Task: Given jumbled letters per number, the students will arrange and form a word corresponding to the definition (clue) given. The definitions describe the function of the organelles. They will arrange the letters forming the word. Example: JUMBLED LETTERS MCIA OITNH ORD CLUE This is the powerhouse of the cell. ORGANELLE MITOCHONDRIA STATION 4: CELL ANALOGY Task: Knowing the functions of the different cell organelles, the students will make a CELL ANALOGY. The organelles are listed, and they will determine which person, or structure plays a similar role/responsibility as to the function of the organelles.
