ADVANTAGES OF SEXUAL REPRODUCTION
 INTERNAL FERTILIZATION i.e. OVIPARITY
 The species can adapt to new environments due to variation, which gives them a
survival advantage.
 HEN PROTECTS THEIR EGGS
DISADVANTAGES OF SEXUAL REPRODUCTION
 EXTERNAL FERTILIZATION i.e. AMPHIBIANS (FROGS)
 A disadvantage is that sexual reproduction takes longer than asexual
reproduction. A mate must be found, the egg must be fertilized by sperm, and
then the offspring develop
 Some mothers leave their eggs in an open water and they become susceptible to
predators
ADVANTAGES OF ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION
 BINARY FISSION i.e. CELLS
 Mates not required and an enormous number of organisms can be produced in
very less time.
DISADVANTAGES OF ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION
 FRAGMENTATION i.e. SPONGE AND STARFISH
 Lack of diversity. Since the offspring are genetically identical to the parent, they
are more susceptible to the same diseases and nutrient deficiencies as the parent.
All the negative mutations persist for generations.
