DO-IT-YOURSELF PROJECT AT HOME
REYNOLDS NUMBER
INSTRUCTION
1. With your creativity, conduct an experiment at your home to determine the Reynolds
number for a pipe flow in different flow regimes; laminar and turbulent flow.
2. Your report must in the form of (i) RECORDED VIDEO and (ii) LAB REPORT.
3. For video, it should be within 10 – 15 MINUTES ONLY. The vidoe must consist of
TWO (2) main parts which are:
a) Arrangement of the project/experiment
b) Experimental session
Arrangement of the project/experiment
Things that must be incuded are:
i.
Division of task: decide who will be the planner, experimenter, analyst, and
report writer. Refer Table 1 for task description. (You can just put a short
session of recorded video call session or any other virtual session to decide
individual role as requested in Table 1).
ii. Short discussion session on strategy how to conduct the experiment at home
Experimental session
Things that must be included are:
i. Introduction
ii. The objective of the experiment
iii. Experimental procedure
iv. Conclusion

4. Please refer to the Lab Report Cover and Rubric BTK1243 (in Kalam) for the lab
report format. Please state on the front page name of planner, experimenter, analyst
and report writer.
5. Submission: for recorded video, paste the youtube link in the Appendix section in the
lab report. Lab report (pdf format) must be submitted in Kalam. Refer Kalam for the
submission deadline.
