BKC3533 OSH in Chemical Industries SEM II 2021/2022 Department of Chemical Engineering College of Engineering Universiti Malaysia Pahang (BKC3533 OSH in Chemical Industries) Project Overview The project is to be completed at approximately 4-week intervals throughout the semester. The project will conclude with presenting plant layout (include Emergency Response Team- ERT and Emergency Response Plan- ERP). You will work together in group, each team on a slightly different problem. The full design project will contribute 10% to your final grade, however…. 1.0 Project Description 1.1 The project titles are (1st come 1st serve): 1) Production of Toulene 2) Production of Benzene 3) Production of Ammonia 4) Production of Propylene 5) Production of Methanol 6) Production of Citric Acid 7) Production of Sulfuric Acid 8) Production of Sodium Hydroxide 9) Production of Acetone 10) Production of Styrene 11) Production of Ethylene 12) Production of Ethanol 13) Production of Cumene 14) Production of IPA 15) Production of Acetic acid 1.2 The project task will be: a) Enroll yourself in the group of your selection (G1, G2, G3, ...... G25) in KALAM. Each group will have 4 members. You can have a discussion with your best mate before deciding the group number. b) Once together create a UNIQUE and memorable group name. The name will be your identity in this project. c) ONE (1) group member need to choose the tittle in KALAM (1st come 1st serve). d) Find an article or reference which has a detailed process flow diagram (PFD) of the chosen tittle (Due date: 22 April 2022). e) Choose TWO major units (one from reaction unit and one from separation unit) for HAZOP and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). The example of the PFD is shown in Figure 1.1, where red box represent the reaction units and blue box represent the separation units. Margin 2 cm (top,bottom, right), 2.5 cm (left). i) Table title must be on the top of the table while figure title at the bottom of the figure. j) Proper CITATIONs and REFERENCEs. k) Maximum page for report is 15 pages. 2.0 Resources for Your Project 2.1 Journal Articles Many of the journal articles that you will need for this project can be obtained online from the Library. You need to locate reference for your product immediately so that you can meet the first deadline.
