TASK 1
Malaysia is blessed with many species of timber with high quality of properties. In this task, you
need to explore FIVE (5) types of timber species that are available in Malaysia. The exploration
must include:
a) Figure of each timber species
b) Main properties that required in designing timber structure.
c) The application of the timber based on the properties listed in (b)
d) Cost of the timber

TASK 2
A steel heat treatment process is recommended to improve the properties of steel product. With
the help of schematic diagram, explain and discuss THREE (3) types of steel heat treatment that
are commonly applied in steel making industries. The discussion must include:
a) Method of processing
b) Purpose of the treatment
c) Discussion on the strength and weakness of the treatment
