Pre-Lab 10/14 1. Energy enters the living world by the sun. 2. In plants the pigment molecules absorb energy from the sun to power chemical reactions and they absorb specific wavelengths of visible light to provide the energy required for photosynthesis. 3. The process of chromatography separates molecules because of the different solubility of the molecules in a selected solvent. 4. When the stomach digests food, the carbohydrate in food breaks down into another type of sugar, called glucose. The stomach and small intestines absorb the glucose and then release it into the bloodstream. 5. ATP captures chemical energy obtained from the breakdown of food molecules and releases it to fuel other cellular processes.
