Higher energy efficiency and cost savings for
maintenance are main advantages of e-Buses
Cost savings for traction energy
Higher energy efficiency
(efficiency of electric drives,
auxiliaries and recuperation)
Reduced maintenance costs due
to less mechanical parts
Utilization of renewable energy
Zero local emissions (CO2, noise)
Air conditioning and full electric
heating

Outlook and Recommendation for Next Steps
Set up of a tasks group eBus & eBRT
To get a common deep understanding of eBus and
eBRT solutions we suggest a task group with
Experts of NTA, Bus Manufacturer, Siemens-Israel
and -Austria.
Task 1
Evaluation of potential eBRT lines and key
performance indicators in order to jointly obtain
a deeper understanding for operating full
electric battery buses and/or eBRT buses
Visit Vienna
"Reference Wiener Linien"
in late spring 2013
The new eBus fleet in Vienna
will start its operation in January
2013. By spring 2013 first
operating figures will be available
and could be presented to the
working group.
Task 2
Evaluation of Total Cost of Ownership of full
electric battery buses and eBRT buses in
comparison with conventional diesel buses
