Major Trends driving Infrastructure Management Services
Mature trends
Emerging trends
Data Center Services: Organizations are constantly
changing service demands to improve business
responsiveness, lower costs, and consolidate their data
centers.
Infrastructure Utility: Growing realization and
acceptance of using shared infrastructure to leverage
savings and productivity improvements has paved the
way for delivering Infrastructure Utility Services.
End User Computing: With Microsoft announcing an
end of support for Windows XP by 2014, a majority
of enterprise customers globally have begun their
migration planning to Windows 7.
Private Cloud: Enterprises are opting for Private Clouds
to optimize their infrastructure since security and control
continue to be major inhibitors of relevance during
Cloud adoption.
Network & Security Services: To deal with new
vulnerabilities and attacks in their network, enterprises
aim to adopt managed security services.
Cloud Aggregation: Cloud computing will have a big
impact on IT infrastructure service delivery as well as IT
application management in the very near future.
Application Operations: Focus has shifted to
transformation and consolidation in IT infrastructure
operations as customers prepare for greater value in
outsourcing.
End User Computing: Enterprises are re-thinking their
mobility strategy as they look for an IT services provider
with relevant expertise in enterprise mobility & mobile
device management.
Process & Automation: Increasing complexity in IT
infrastructure drives the need for innovative solutions
& tools to gain full visibility and control across the
enterprise.

SUCCESS
STORIES
Testimonials
“We were looking for an IT service provider
who could ensure successful transition from
our staff augmentation model to a proactive
IT management services model to ensure
a scalable and agile IT environment while
improving our internal processes. In HCL, we
found an IT Infrastructure vendor that could
support this strategic transformation as well as
provide a cost effective solution. As an added
benefit, this initiative enables us to free up
permanent staff time to work on strategic, valueadded projects.”

Cost Optimization through Cloud
A leading hi-tech manufacturing company approached
us to help migrate its messaging data and mailboxes to a
new environment while creating a secure cloud messaging
service. A cloud-based, two-factor authentication system
was deployed, and the move to Google Messaging was
the first step in an extensive cloud strategy. Subsequently
the company deployed the entire cloud-based Enterprise
Google Apps suite, and then moved its human resources
system and audio/Web conferencing to the cloud. In
2011, it moved all of its end-user document storage into
the cloud. Results: The company’s use of Cloud-based
services resulted in $1.6 million in annualized savings and a
significant improvement in collaboration among employees
distributed across the globe. Our cloud strategy helped
this customer meet its organizational goal of having a lean
and agile IT organization.
Business Transformation
“Responsiveness to our business partners is
always a top objective of IT. Working with HCL
ISD to develop fine-tuned governance, delivery
and management processes has been a true
enabler to delivering on that objective.”

A US based pharmaceutical company wanted to shift the
responsibility for day-to-day operations and infrastructure
support from Purdue to HCL ISD. This would enable
Purdue resources previously responsible for such activities
to be reallocated to more strategic roles within IT. We took
a phased approach to transition services from Purdue and
provided HCL ISD employees to help resolve day-to-day
as well as long-term issues. Results: The transition went
smoothly with virtually no impact on the business, was
completed on time and well within the planned budget.
Purdue’s internal resources focused on architecting
solutions, generating technology innovation and supporting
business projects, while our team effectively monitored
and provided the infrastructure support.
“As a result of our partnership with HCL, we
were able to achieve game-changing results
quickly and effectively.”

A Fortune 500 Company was looking for a reliable
outsourcing partner to consolidate its entire internal client
services - including IT, HR, accounting and professional
support into a single operation. The company wanted its
internal IT organization to focus on strategic and core IT.
We delivered end-to-end IT infrastructure services, and
undertook several transformational projects for backup
tape optimization, application consolidation, database
optimization, server virtualization and more. HCL wellexecuted a major area of concern for the customer i.e.
data center consolidation. Results: Our automated tools
helped this client improve its IT services and reduce costs.
Helpdesk consolidation across geographies decreased
support costs and reduced ticket resolution by 30%.
Focus on SLAs, process standardization across the globe
and resource optimization with zero impact to the business
improved CSAT scores. The successful completion of Six
Sigma projects saved our client $50K to $100K annually
per project.
