GLEN CANYON NEXGEN Internet Addressable International Electricity Meter and Gateway The NEXGEN Solution The NEXGEN 40002 meter is part of a system that provides utilities cost-efficient, effective and convenient solutions for two-way communications between meter and utility. Glen Canyon International Electricity Meters comprise a family of re-imagined and highly-integrated ruggedized metrology subsystems that includes built-in wireless Internet networking and intelligence to perform multi-tariff precision metrology, Internet access, Remote Disconnect, Power Outage Reporting and financial integration for prepayment or payment. Applications IEC Residential and Commercial Electric Utility Meter Benefits • Smart Meter at electro-mechanical meter cost • Operating cost competitive with manual reading • Time-of-Use and Multi-Tariff for energy savings and revenue enhancement • Periodic or on-demand reading • Full AMI and AMR functionality • Remote disconnect to minimize service calls • Power outage reporting improves quality of service • Field upgradeable for low cost maintenance Metrological Features Frequency (Hz) Voltage (RMS, Min, Max, Sag, Surge) Current (RMS, Min, Max, Sag, Surge) Active Energy (kWh) (consumed, delivered) Active Power (kW) (consumed, delivered) Reactive Energy (kVARh) (consumed, delivered) Reactive Power (kVAR) (consumed, delivered) Active Demand (block, window, thermal) Reactive Demand (block, window, thermal) Power Factor (ф) Temperature (°C) Multi-Tariff (8) Calendar Years (5) and Day Types (16) Recording Interval (1 minute minimum) The NEXGEN solution consists of low-cost NEXGEN Smart Meters communicating through existing networks to NEXGEN Cloud software running in the Cloud. From the Cloud, utilities control AMI, AMR, Power Outage Reporting, and Remote Disconnect functionality through the NEXGEN Cloud suite of web browser-based applications. For highest reliability, flexibility and ease of implementation, data is 128-bit AES encrypted and carried using IPV4/IPV6 Internet protocol. Each NEXGEN meter is an Internet appliance which communicates through a robust wireless mesh network to a gateway. Gateways fit inside a standard NEXGEN meter. No additional special equipment is needed. Typically, 20 meters are in a single mesh network with a gateway creating a Neighborhood Are Network (NAN). The gateway meter aggregates meter data from each meter in the NAN and sends it across a Wide Area Network to the NEXGEN Cloud software in the Cloud as frequently as one minute intervals. The NEXGEN gateway is offered as an Ethernet or GSM/GPRS backhaul link. General The Meters described are intended for use in IEC service as a single phase primary meter and gateway for residential and commercial service according to EN and CISPR guidelines. The electronic single phase watt-hour meter has a real time clock and can accomodate multiple tariffs and forward and reverse energy reading.
