Explanatory notes
1
Definitions
Organisation refers to a specific business entity which may be – for profit or non-profit;
in private, public, or voluntary sectors; a business unit, iwi, or other special purpose
body.
External environmental information refers to aspects of the technological, commercial,
economic, financial, political, regulatory, socio-cultural and physical environments, and
also includes product and service markets (export and domestic).
Internal environmental information refers to the capabilities and limitations of the
organisation, and includes but is not limited to human, physical, technological and
financial capabilities and limitations.
Stakeholders refers to individuals and groups that have interest in the organisation
and/or its products or services. Stakeholders may include but are not limited to –
customers, suppliers, owners, shareholders, lenders, managers, employees, employee
organisations, local community, competitors, and regulatory bodies.

This unit standard will be assessed against on the basis of evidence of demonstrated
performance in the workplace or in simulated situations that demand performance
equivalent to that required in work.

judgement of reliability, authority, and limitations for use.
1.2
Information is analysed in collaboration with stakeholders in terms of its
relevance to the organisation’s core or future business.
1.3
Information is analysed in terms of its actual and potential impact on the
organisation, by testing major variables, working assumptions, and probabilities.

evidence of use of at least one qualitative and one quantitative tool
which may include but are not limited to – statistical inference,
decision trees, flow charting, mapping, regression models, time
series.
Analysis and supporting information are presented in a form that aids decisionmaking, and in a timely manner.

This unit standard, unit standard 23915, unit standard
23916, and unit standard 23917 have been replaced by
unit standard 27762 and unit standard 27763.
This unit standard replaced unit standard 7444.
This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by
the last date for assessment set out below.
