The above corrosion resistance chart is to be used with care and knowledge that
under some circumstances each chemical could perform poorly. Concentrations
and exposure times are key. Also keep in mind that appearance may be compromised without affecting the longevitiy of the material. Satin polished stainless
steels may show signs of surface contamination without being functinally compromised. A good cleaning can often return a satin finish appearance. Many acids
perform poorly with all metals. It is common practice to check to see if the chemical is acitic. In which case a superior material and finish is chosen. Alkali chemicals
are less agressive with metals and usually perfrom better. The best protection from
corrosion and appearance issues is a superior powder coating over superior materi-
