240MW Diamantina combined cycle power station in Queensland, as well as the

Siemens in Victoria and Tasmania
Siemens is leading a significant efficiency upgrade
at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, cutting utility
costs by 20 per cent. Projected savings from
reduced energy consumption will see the project
pay for itself within 5 – 10 years.
Construction is progressing on the $630 million
Bendigo Hospital Project, one of the largest
regional healthcare projects in Australia. Siemens
Financial Services (SFS), through its shareholding
in Exemplar Health, is investing 50 per cent of the
equity of the project.
Siemens has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with Australia’s peak engineering
body, Engineers Australia. The overall aim is to
increase the level of collaboration between

Siemens in New South Wales
In New South Wales, Siemens has been providing
maintenance and repair services for train radio
equipment across Sydney’s vast rail network for
more than 20 years.
One of Sydney’s largest new commercial precincts
is turning to Siemens for its power requirements.
Siemens will supply medium voltage switchgear, as
well as design and supply the SCADA and
protection system for the substation at Barangaroo.
A new imaging research centre boasting the most
advanced scanning technology in the Southern
Hemisphere has opened at the Hunter Medical
Research Institute in Newcastle. The centre has
installed a Siemens Magnetom Prisma 3T MRI unit,
the first of its kind in Australia.

Siemens in Queensland
In Queensland, Siemens is moving closer to our
customers with the opening of the Rockhampton
Service Centre. The centre will provide spare parts,
maintenance and training facilities to Queensland’s
mining region.
The recently commissioned 240MW Diamantina
combined cycle power station in Mount Isa will
supply efficient energy to local mines and houses.
Siemens was responsible for overall plant design, as
well as the supply and installation of two gas turbines
and one steam turbine.
The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital has
completed the world’s first commercial installation of
a Siemens Biograph mCT Flow scanner, which will
provide oncology and neurology patients with a more
accurate diagnosis and better treatment.

Siemens in Western Australia
Siemens is supplying one of Australia’s largest
mining projects with a complete power distribution
solution, including integrated e-houses and electrical
and mechanical drives. The Roy Hill mine will
produce 55 million tonnes of iron ore per annum.
Officially opened in October 2014, the $2 billion Fiona
Stanley Hospital is WA’s flagship public hospital. In
an Australian first, Siemens has a 15-year agreement
to provide Managed Equipment Services (MES). This
will include managing the procurement, installation
and maintenance of all diagnostic and most treatment
equipment.
Siemens has officially opened its new multi-million
dollar Perth offices and announced the development
of a new Service Centre at Perth International
Airport. The state-of-the-art facility will provide critical
service and repair for customers in the water, mining,
oil and gas and associated industries.

Innovative Siemens wind turbines at Snowtown II
Wind Farm are providing clean, emission-free power
for 180,000 South Australian homes. Siemens
provided a full turnkey project solution for the wind
farm including the associated 275kV high voltage
substation.
Siemens has completed a major electrification and
signalling upgrade of Adelaide’s rail network. Project
scope included design, procurement, construction,
and commissioning for a complete 25kV traction
power system, including a SCADA system for
monitoring and control.
Siemens is building a maintenance and repair facility
at the Tonsley precinct to service its energy
technology business. The company will invest more
than $5 million, having signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with the South Australian
Government.

Siemens in New Zealand
New Zealand's HVDC Inter-Island link has been
strengthened by Siemens to meet the highest
seismic standards and increase the overall HVDC
link capacity by more than 70 per cent. The Pole 3
upgrade will ensure security of supply for New
Zealand’s power grid for generations to come.
Identified by clinicians as a superior choice for
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Siemens has captured
the majority of growth in the rapidly-expanding New
Zealand market. In 2014 the company sold more than
10 MAGNETOM systems to hospitals and radiology
practices in New Zealand.
The introduction of electric trains in Auckland in
2014 was the culmination of more than $1.5 billion
of public investment in the underlying infrastructure.
