Coaching Qualifications Workforce Manager
LOCATION:
Negotiable; minimum one day at UKA Head Quarters.
Requirement to attend meetings and events across the country.

Consultants – National Trainers, Regional Trainers (Shares with
CQ&TM)
Self-employed personnel – Tutors, Trainee Tutors, Assessors
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY:
Circa: £125,000:
Tutor Workforce Education and related budgets, including
workforce training and quality assurance.
PURPOSE
To help lead on the delivery of the UKA Coach Education system design and implementation,
working with the four Home Country Athletics Federations with specific emphasis on the
recruitment, management and development of the coach education workforce. Will also lead
on the quality assurance process, working to ensure we are consistently delivering programmes
at a high standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead a phased roll-out of the UKA Coach Education programme across all four Home Country
Athletics Federations, working in partnership with each country’s coach education staff and
teams:



Manage the Tutor Workforce budget
Manage the Tutor Licensing process
Manage the delivery of a workforce development plan to ensure quality delivery and
assessment standards are adhered to throughout the UK

Manage the training, continued professional development and quality assurance of the
Coach Education workforce
Manage the contracting, deployment and payment of consultant Trainers to support the
training and quality assurance of the Coach Education workforce
Work closely with Home Country Coach Education staff to ensure a logical assignment of
the tutor workforce across the four home countries
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 Liaise with IT department and external organisation regarding Trinity developments to
support the Coach Education programme and the licensing process for tutors
 Develop a tutor support and development section of uCoach to assist in course
education, training and support
 Develop and manage a mechanism for the assessment of foreign coaches to receive a
UKA coaching license
 Contribute in full to the success of the coaching and development department
 Contribute to relevant newspapers, magazines, periodicals and journals.
 To undertake any further duties as requested by the Strategic Head of Coaching and
Development

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Experience:
 Designing educational programmes and resources
 Writing educational material
 Working with other organisations in establishing learner needs and demands
 Management of consultants (material writers, assessors, etc).
 Demonstrates an understanding of the function of a sport's governing body
 Experience of managing projects
 Financially astute – can manage budgets

Facilitating in-house training an advantage
Previous experience in a relevant similar position is valuable
Specific Skills:
 Communication, influencing and negotiation
 Knowledge of athletics, coach education programme and systems, athlete and coach
development models
 Excellent computer skills in respect of databases, internet and Office products
 Knowledge of use of IT in Educational products, CD ROM, video production etc
Education/Qualifications:
 University degree
 Previous experience coaching, ideally current UKA Level 3
 Experience in developing curriculum
 Experience in developing and quality assuring an education workforce
 Managing budgets
 Tutoring, assessing and verifying qualifications and / or experience
 Computer literate
HAY SALARY BAND
CONTRACT STATUS
ANNUAL PAID HOLIDAY
£32,960 - £41,200 per annum

25 days plus 8 statutory bank holidays
HOURS
35 hours per week. A flexible approach to

evening and weekend working
