David Stephenson

David STEPHENSON has more than 20 years experience in the
payment card field, and is currently based in Paris with responsibility
within CB for :
− partnerships with international card schemes and domestic
European schemes, and
− relations with European Institutions such as the European Commission, the European
Parliament and the European Central Bank.
David currently represents the European Card schemes in the European Payments Council
“Card Stakeholders Group”, and has represented CB in the European Commission Payment
System Market Group and European Parliament Hearings on key issues related to the
Payment Services Directive. He is also General Secretary of the ESF+ Forum, a think-tank
which provides a Forum for informal discussion for Experts and Senior Management from
ATM and POS switches
Before joining CB he held a series of International Marketing posts, based in the UK, France,
Belgium, China and Singapore for organizations in fields related to payments including the
smartcard manufacturer Bull CP8, Cyber-COMM, Computer Sciences Corporation, and ADP
Network Services.
David is an Honours Graduate in Mathematics from Portsmouth Polytechnic, UK, with diplomas from
INSEAD, France in European Marketing and the Haute Ecole de Commerce, France in Advanced Marketing
Management.
