RescueNetRoadSafety4000: ModemSpecification Updated October 28, 2013 About the Modem Specification You can get the most from your RescueNet Road Safety 4000 system by ensuring that your cellular modem meets the minimum requirements outlined in these specifications. Additionally, an infrastructure based on these specifications ensures the most cost-effective and seamless upgrade path for future expansion. IMPORTANT! It is important to note that it is your responsibility to purchase, install, and contract for third party devices or associated cellular data services outlined in this document. IMPORTANT! If you choose to deviate from our recommendations ZOLL will attempt to complete installations, train and troubleshoot your Road Safety issues. However, if it is determined or cannot be ruled out that your choice of modem infrastructure or configuration thereof is causing problems with the ZOLL RescueNet Road Safety system, ZOLL staff will not be able to assist in the correction of the problem until your environment is modified to meet the specifications outlined in this document. IMPORTANT! If additional installation or training time is required as a result of issues caused by your choice of modem infrastructure or configuration thereof it is your responsibility to pay for this additional time and any associated travel and expenses. ZOLL Road Safety 4000 Modem Specification 1.0 Page 1 of 2 Modem Specifications The following are the minimum specifications for the Road Safety 4000 modem. ZOLL recommends a commercial grade fixed mount modem to ensure optimal performance and reliability of your Road Safety 4000 system. ZOLL has tested and confirmed Road Safety 4000 compatibility with the following modems: Sierra Wireless™ GX440 Sierra Wireless™ MP597 Cradlepoint IBR650E-VZ NOTE: The Cradlepoint modem has not been tested or certified for use with any other RescueNet product. It has only been tested with the RS-4000, the tested version of the Cradlepoint modem did not contain GPS or WiFi capabilities and thus any modem that does possess these features has not been tested and cannot be certified to work. ZOLL does not test every commercial fixed mount modem available on the market, however, we expect that modems that meet the following characteristics to work. Minimum specifications Type Cellular Technology Serial Ethernet WiFi® GPS Tracking Antenna Commercial Grade Fixed Mount 3G, 4G, LTE or newer Optional; Serial connections to the RS4000 are not supported for internet connectivity. 1 or more ports; Wired Ethernet is recommended connection to RS4000 device. Optional; WiFi connection is alternate recommendation for connection to RS4000 device when wired Ethernet is not possible. Not Needed; RS4000 provides GPS capabilities External antenna connection is preferred. IMPORTANT! USB and Serial modem connections are not supported by Road Safety 4000. Modem connections should be made first by cabled Ethernet or alternately WiFi. IMPORTANT! If using the Road Safety 4000 in an integrated environment with RescueNet Navigator Garmin Interface a direct serial connection is required between the Garmin device and the modem to interface with the Navigator system. The Garmin device cannot be connected to the Road Safety 4000 unit and as such the modem selected for this environment must also meet the specifications for the RescueNet Navigator system.
