An improved soft-switching topology of a full bridge pulse width modulated dc-dc converter is described. The series parallel resonant converter is a preferred topology for dc-dc power conversion. Its main attractive features are zero voltage switching (ZVS), zero current switching (ZCS). The frequency of operation is chosen to obtain the desired power handling capacity. The efficiency becomes maximum when the operating frequency is close to the resonant frequency. Good efficiency can be maintained at lower loads and to achieve this, the peak current decreases with decrease of load proportionately. By rectifying the voltage across the parallel capacitor, a dc voltage is obtained which may be filtered to achieve smooth dc. A variable or constant voltage can be obtained from constant or variable load by varying the gate angle by means of control circuit.
