KETEK VITUS Silicon Drift Detector Steffen Pahlke APPLICATION NOTE KETEK VITUS Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) equipped with new optimised Thermo-Electric Cooler (TEC, Peltier) The new KETEK Thermo-Electric Cooler (TEC) or Peltier is an especially optimized device with a 30% better power efficiency. With a maximum current of 700mA and a voltage of 3.6V (2.5W) a temperature difference of at least 75K can be achieved. The typical operating temperature of -35°C at a heat sink temperature of 20°C can already be achieved at less than 300mA with a voltage below 1.7V equal a power of less than 0.5W. Additionally the time to cool down to operating temperature stays nearly the same by applying less power.
