ICC LEADERSHIP SERIES
(A Blending of PDI Inspiring Leadership Modules and ICC Manager and Learning Modules)
PDI INSPIRING LEADERSHIP SERIES MODULES (ILS):
 Leadership Communication Skills – 4 hours
 Adaptive Leadership – 4 hours (includes self-assessment)
 Emotional Intelligence – 4 hours (includes self-assessment)
 Engaging Employees – 4 hours
 Change Management - 4 hours
 1 PDI Elective – 4 hours
Or equivalent professional development documented
Total of 24 hours ($40/course; $240/participant – paid for by Instructional Innovation (IILS))
ICC MANAGER (AND LEARNING) MODULES:
 New Employee Orientation – 5 hours plus online = 6 hours total
o Plus Online Training Modules in Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Ethics and
Diversity – 1 hour
 Service Excellence Project – 6 hours/day (final product of several service iterations)
 Yellow Belt Training – 2 ½ hours
 Manager’s Expectations in Fostering a Positive Work Climate – 1 ½ hours
 ICC Students & the Student In-Take Process – To Be Refined/Redeveloped – 2 hours
 Interest Based Bargaining/Conversations – Susan Voight-Reising - 3 hours
 Performance Management – 1 ½ hours
 ICC Diversity Training – Ron Howell – 3 hours
 Hiring Best Practices – 1 ½ hours (under development by HR)
 Financial Resource Management – 1 ½ hours
Total of 28 ½ hours (additional cost for 6 hours of guest facilitators – paid for by IILS)
Further APPLICATION and ONGOING SUPPORT Possibilities:
 Serve on a Six Sigma, AQIP or similar work team
 Participate in a Monthly Coaching/Mentoring Group for two years – Consultant
Professional Coach may be needed (additional fee for consultant)
 Completion of a Manager Portfolio (includes reflection, assessments & documentation)

 Two years to complete the ICC Leadership Series
 Certificate of completion and award
 Part of Employee Performance Review and/or Program Plan
Summary of Recommendations:
1. Used goals and competencies for leaders plus ICC unique goals and mission. Refer to
the ICC Leadership Series map.
2. Integrate Manager Training into the Performance Review Process
o For sustainability

3. Require the ICC Proposed Leadership Modules for All ICC Managers (current and new)
o Grandfather in modules that have already been completed (if no major revisions)
o Use to develop managers for succession planning
o ICC Manager Modules will be announced as scheduled; refer to following pages
4. Require the 5 selected PDI Inspiring Leadership Series (ILS) and select elective based on:
o Experience level
o Prior professional development
o Upcoming needs
o Replace with other selections, if supervisor and manager deem appropriate
5. Additional possibilities:

Participants will:

Understand the definition and terminology associated
with sexual harassment.

Provide information about what a person should do if
they feel they have been harassed or accused of

workplace where every ICC employee can work and feel
safe.

Define ethics.

Review the ethical standards expected.

Increase their awareness and expectations for ethical
behavior.


Define diversity.

Review the ICC Diversity Pledge and its purpose.

Understand expectations for modeling behaviors to
support the ICC Diversity Pledge.

Engage in discussion of service processes and

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
 Registration for the ICC MANAGER MODULES is through The Teaching & Learning Center
at tlc@icc.edu or 694-8908.
 Registration for the PDI INSPIRING LEADERSHIP MODULES is through Janice Kinsinger at
jkinsinger@icc.edu or 694-5758. Supervisor approval is required for registration and
attendance of the PDI modules. Strategic Forum members do not need supervisor
approval. **Cancellations for registered events must be at least 3 days prior to event.
Cancellations after 3 days will result in a $40 charge to the registrant’s department.**
 Registration for Six Sigma Training is through the usual Six Sigma process (contacting
Paula Fraley or the Six Sigma Black Belts).
 Registration for New Employee Orientation is through Human Resources for all
employees.
 Registration for the Diversity Hiring is through Human Resources.
