There is no school Friday, January 15, due to teacher institute day. Therefore, this week’s homework is due on Thursday. Also, there is no school Monday, January 18, in honor of Martin Luther King. Therefore, students will receive their homework packet for next week next Tuesday after the MLK holiday. Students will take district assessments in math. The math fact test will test multiplication and division facts with 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10. Since we have been working on these facts for months, students should 14 30 now be independent or close to independent. The goal is to answer facts correctly in 90 seconds. Assessment on one-step word problems using multiplication and division will be this week. Formative assessments (based on in-class work, participation, and discussion) occur daily. Review Skills for Reading/Math Log: READING LOG (PARENTS, PLEASE SIGN): Read books of your choice thinking carefully about fluency and comprehension. Practice this week’s fluency passage. Read it as many times as possible to improve fluency and reach fluency goal. READING LOG GOAL: Read at least 20 minutes 4 times a week. MATH LOG (PARENTS, PLEASE SIGN): Math homework should be included on math log. Also, practice math facts and other math concepts using weekly fact practice test, math homework, flash cards, XtraMath, paper and pencil, computer games, math games/ activities, etc. MATH LOG GOAL: Practice at least 15 minutes 4 times a week. WINTER BREAK HOMEWORK PACKET DUE—FINAL REMINDER! REMINDER: This is not required.
