Intern Job Description – Medical Referral Program

Through the leadership of the Medical Fitness Director (MFD), the intern will help assist Brick

Bodies (BB) as an extension of the medical community, assist in providing wellness programs that improve the overall health of the patient leading to a lifetime of better health and prevention.

The intern will collaborate with the MFD to serve as an ambassador for the BB program with the local medical community.

Duties include but are not limited to:

1.

Assisting the MFD with the Medical Community by establishing regular communication and follow-up with referring physicians and developing relationships with local medical practices to generate increasing referrals and enrollments.

2.

Assist in assessing and evaluating participants to determine their individual history, limitations, and health needs.

3.

Providing professional, safe, and caring instruction on the proper use of fitness equipment and appropriate counseling and support for all program participants with respect to exercise and disease prevention.

4.

Interacting daily with staff, members, and program participants to maintain accessibility, visibility, and effective communication.

5.

Collaborate with the MFD with all aspects of program delivery.

6.

Assisting MFD with oversight and leadership to the program to ensure that our team provides excellent, safe, and appropriate care for participants throughout the program.

7.

Providing individual counseling and support for all program participants with respect to exercise, nutrition, disease prevention, and rehabilitation.

8.

Assist in maintaining accurate records for each participant including physician recommendations, initial assessment data, participant goals, exercise and nutrition programs, progress reports and physician communication / follow-up.

9.

Assist in the maintenance of our scanning software to make sure the First Step process is accurate.

10.

Attending Brick Bodies management meetings

11.

Assist the General Manager with club operations.

12.

Assisting in educational lectures and services to participants and members as needed

13.

Assisting with the marketing / promotion of the program, including outreach to the local medical community.

14.

Assist in positioning the Medical Referral Program as part of the overall BB Brand.

Compensation : Unpaid internship. Free Brick Bodies Health Club Membership during internship. Mileage during intern hours will reimbursed

Hours: TBD by University

Job Requirements: Actively pursuing a degree in Business or Exercise Science. Currently or actively pursuing CPR / First Aid / AED certification. Strong desire to work on the prevention / wellness side of the medical community.
