I. Whole Foods
Whole Foods delivers value above and beyond differently from what is provided by traditional grocery
retailers. They supply high quality natural and organic products which benefits the people that would
want to be more health conscience. In addition, they do their best to care about the communities and
the environment by “going green.” Also, Whole Foods provide numerous links for customers that would
like to know more information about being healthy such as recipes, health and nutrition, etc. Some
ways in which the company communicates this value through its web is by product and promotion. The
company features products and gives a brief description of the product’s overview. People are able to
even rate the products and leave comments for other customers. Whole Foods displays great effort to
the site to offer the best quality goods, services and ideas for consumers to fit their needs.
II. Land’s End
Land’s End creates value for consumers in various ways which is very distinct from traditional apparel
stores. Land’s End displays a user friendly website, provides products and items that can be delivered to
the customers’ houses. Customers also have the convenience to access customer service and be able to
go to the actually itself by using the store locator. In addition, consumers can accrue nonmonetary
benefits from Land’s End. The company has a wide selection of detailed clothing to fit the needs and
wants of everyone. For example, clothing can range from sizes of petite to big and tall. The site can also
provide customers to narrow down selections by using the drop down menu.

III. Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream
Ben and Jerry’s have different aspects of many missions and its values that might be considered
progressive. This ice cream company has a mission statement that consists of product, economic and
social missions. An example is the product mission where Ben and Jerry’s tries to create, distribute and
sell the finest quality ice cream for consumers. The ice cream is made from all wholesome, natural
ingredients and they promote ways to respect the earth and the environment in business terms. Ben
and Jerry’s have values where they care about the environment. One of their values is called, “Lick
Global Warming,” where they strive to get people together to work as one and to tackle the problem of
global warming. I believe Ben and Jerry’s progressive attitude creates a special position in the market
which contributes to a sustainable competitive advantage. The reason is because they show to public
consumers that they’re a global friendly company and are willing to help the environment in any way.
IV. eHarmony
EHarmony uses a different types of activities and methods in order to help match compatible couples.
There are three methods in which the firm uses in order to find compatibility amongst users is scientific
matching, 29 dimensions of compatibility and expert guidance. Scientific matching is a compatibility
matching model is which scientific researching is used to find the perfect characteristics between
spouses. 29 Dimensions of compatibility is another method which uses comprehensive relationship
questionnaire to match singles and bring them happiness in their relationships. Lastly, expert guidance
is a method that aids singles to become more outgoing and to take away all awkwardness from getting
to know each other better. Based in the SWOT analysis, the environment has its strengths and
weaknesses that might affect Internet dating services. The positive side of the SWOT analysis consists of
strengths internally and externally. The internal strengths are person’s personality and being a wellknown firm. The external strength is building popularity in the United States and possible outside the
states. The SWOT analysis is also followed by weaknesses internally and externally. Some internal
weaknesses are the over-reliance on relationships and the risky operations within the company. Finally,
the external weakness is the increasing competitive pressures.
