EAP 0360 - Grammar Level 3
Course Description: Students develop the ability to understand and use basic, high
frequency grammatical structures.
3 credits
Prerequisites: EAP 0260 or equivalent as determined by score on Michigan.
Co-requisite: None
Competency 1: The student will demonstrate proficiency when using the grammatical structures
from Levels 1 - 2 (see competencies for these levels).
Competency 2: The student will identify and produce the following sentence structure patterns
containing grammatical forms covered in this and previous levels:
a. Simple sentences with complements
b. Compound sentences
c. Information questions (“WH”)
d. Simple questions (Yes/No)
e. Short Answers
Competency 3: The student will identify correct examples of the following
sentence structure pattern containing verb forms covered in this and previous
levels: Complex sentences with high frequency conjunctive adverbs showing
sequence or reason (e.g., after, before, because)
VERBS (Tense, Aspect, Voice, & Mood)
Competency 4: The student will recognize and use the following active voice verbs in
affirmative, negative, and question forms.

Simple Present, Past, or Future as indicated by the

e. Should/Could (advice/suggestion)
Attendance Policy: You should come to every class in order to
obtain the most complete educational experience. Participation in this
class is only possible if you attend class. If you arrive late to class it is
your responsibility to notify the instructor at the end of class in order
to change your absence to a tardy; otherwise you will be marked
absent. Please note:

Participation
Participation is an integral part of the learning process. ENGLISH ONLY
is spoken in our classroom and active participation is stressed in order
to help you improve your reading, writing, and oral communication
skills. Your success in improving your English skills will depend very
heavily on your ability to practice English every minute that you can.
Homework
Homework must be done on the day that it is assigned. You may be required to turn
it in or to use it for an in-class assignment or activity. NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL
BE ACCEPTED.

If you are absent on the day of an exam with an excusable absence,
