SIX TYPES OF GRADUATION PROJECTS 1. Service Learning – Design and implement a project which provides a valuable and free service to the community. Work must include a plan, activities, and a formal presentation (written, oral and/or audio-visual) which evaluates the effectiveness of the project. 2. Self-Reflection and Future Plan – Write a reflective autobiography, a formal resume, and a post-graduation plan (including college and/or job application) and prepare a personal budget (including sample tax forms). 3. Study and Proposal – Identify a topic of concern to you and the community, plan some kind of original study which discovers new information about the issue, conduct the study using scientific and/or social science methods. Prepare a formal report and recommendations for action based on the study, and present the proposal to an agency that has the power to implement your ideas. 4. Cultural Appreciation – Select a person, event, movement, or era which has had a significant effect on your life or society at large. Become an expert on the topic and write a formal paper demonstrating your mastery of the topic. Then present your work in a public way. 5. Instruction – Engage in some instructional activity which includes lesson planning, instruction, and evaluation under the supervision of a professional educator. Students can be a teaching assistant at the school, a peer tutor, or make a presentation at one of the school’s meetings. 6. Creative Exhibition – Demonstrate your ability to think creatively and to produce some original piece of work. Then present it for public appreciation. Examples range from a dance performance, to a collection of poetry, to the design and construction of a greenhouse.
