Newsletter 9/27-10/3 Dear Families: This past week was a short but busy week. Students started using their Wordly Wise vocabulary books and played a variety of games to practice using their new words. We also read and discussed the geography themes of human interaction with the environment and movement. Classes looked for these items in CNN Student News and gathered facts from the broadcasts to be used in their current event summaries. Responsibility is the character trait for September at Shepherd. Pieces were written about people that students felt exemplified responsibility. I have enjoyed reading their papers highlighting the character of everyone from family members to famous members of society. The Shepherd book fair starts Monday, September 28th through October 6th (Curriculum Night). The book fair is a great opportunity to purchase books for reasonable prices and to also help the school purchase critical resources for our students. Dine at Chick-fillet on Wednesday, September 30th. Not only will you enjoy a tasty meal, but you will be greeted by some of our awesome staff from Shepherd while helping support our school. Lastly, I enjoyed the opportunity to meet with parents this past Friday. Parents who where unable to come in on Friday, please contact me so we can arrange a time that is convenient for you. Have a great week and please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Jennifer O'Connor
