Mrs. Reavis’s 2nd Grade News December 1-5, 2014 Letterland: Unit 10: More Vowel Men Out Walking **Please REFER to the handout in your child’s folder titled “Letterland Step-by-Step Homework” for homework that will be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday! There will be a letterland test on FRIDAY (Dec. 5th) so it is very important that your child does this homework (Dec. 1-4) each night to prepare for the test that will be FRIDAY, December 5th! Please note that the “New Sentences” must be written correctly to receive credit on the test so practicing writing these two sentences each night is a good idea! List A: train, coach, know, grow, explain, okay, tray, toast, wait, way, unload, below Tricky Words: once, straight Review Words: leave, repeat, kitchen, named, freeze, sweet, ticket, traded New Sentences to Master: “Once we stayed at the coast for ten days.” & “Follow that trail straight into the forest.” (sentences must be written with correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation) Reading: “Pearl and Wagner..Two Good Friends”, pages 320-339 Genre: Animal Fantasy Phonics: Long e: e, ee, ea, y Comprehension Skill: Author’s Purpose ***Please have your child read this story each night for fluency and comprehension…however….they must return the book each day to school!
