Dear families,
Thanks so much for recognizing me for “Teacher
Appreciation Week.” I greatly appreciate you thinking of
me and acknowledging all I do to help your children
succeed. It is amazing to see how far they have come and
I am honored to be a part of that.

Learning Targets This Week
Reading: We will read The Life Cycle of the Pumpkin. The
skill we will focus on are Fact/Opinion and Context Clues.

Letterland: In this unit, they will learn that when adding-ing
is added to a Closed Syllable word Magic - ing’s magic sparks
must be blocked. Otherwise, they would make the vowel
sound disappear and make a vowel man appear in its place.
Math: 2.OA.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve
one- and two-step word problems Review of Skills: missing
addends, one and two step Word Problems,
HOMEWORK: LetterLand, Moby Max

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you enjoyed their DIRECTED
DRAWING and Top Ten List about you!
Testing on Fluency and Word Recognition began last week.
The rest of the month your child will be tested on Reading
TRC. We have been practicing writing for a few months.
Please discuss with your child about doing their best.
It is also important that your child work quietly and
independently during the tests and not to interrupt
another child’s testing session.
IMPORTANT: Please let me know if you are taking your
child out early. Your child may be testing during that time.
Please DO NOT email me transportation changes as it must
be handwritten to the office. If I am not here I will not be
able to relay the email or may not be able to read them as I
am teaching all day.
VOLUNTEERS: This is our last week as our schedules for the
remainder of the year will change due to testing and EOG’s.
There is a special volunteer recognition at the end of May
for you. Also, I will need help planning the end of the year
party with the other 2nd grade classes.
