Word Study Groups. Students should be sorting their words every night!

Virginia Studies: Special Places Project

All typing of Special Place Information should be completed by the time the students arrive at school on Tuesday, October
20. Students should bring their notes and Flash Drive to school each day. Some additional computer time and support is
available to support the students, and will focus primarily on adding pictures to the slides. All editing of the slides and
information will need to be done at home. Students need to begin practicing the powerpoint presentation. Students may
refer to the slides but should not read directly from them. A grading sheet will be sent home this week so that you may see
how the students will be scored for the presentation. Power point slides will be checked on Friday Oct 23, and should be
completed by then so that students may focus on practicing for the presentation.
Presentations will be given on Nov 3-5. Students will be chosen by lottery on each day, with 6 presentations per day.
Therefore, all students must be ready to present on Nov. 3. Missing flashdrives or other materials may result in a lower
grade, so all students must come prepared.


4. If you read today’s Monday Memo on Monday, please draw a Witch’s Hat next to your initials in the planner tonight.
5. Reflex and Dreambox are added to the planner each week for Math Homework. Please remember to have your child
complete at least two sessions of Reflex (to the green light) and two, 20 minute sessions of Dreambox each week! Please
let me know if you have a problem with either of these at home.
