The Daly Weekly Week of: October 13, 2015 Contact me at: bdaly@lcps.org Academic Content for the Week Reading: Whole Class Novel: Double Fudge Reading Response Letter: Responding to reading, using evidence from a story to support personal observations during reading. character analysis Weekly Comprehension Assessment: Highlighting details and evidence within a fictional reading passage Math: Place Value Review estimated sums and differences and related word problems Addition and subtraction of whole numbers Single and Multi step word problems Writing/Language Word Study Groups. Students should be sorting their words every night! Descriptive Writing: use of sensory details and action verbs Prewriting for Haunted House Projects Virginia Studies: Special Places Project The students will have started typing the special place notes on the computer at school. On Wednesday, students will save their powerpoint to their flashdrive and will bring it home to continue working on it. From then on , the students should bring their notes and Flash Drive to school each day. Progress will be checked and charted regularly. Additional computer time and support is available to support the students but they must have the materials here in order to receive extra time working on the laptop. Science: Natural Resources: products and industries, water resources, watersheds, forests Your Daly Dose 1. Don’t forget your Reading Logs!!!!! Each student has a Reading Log in the yellow Homework Folder. As students finish reading different kinds of books, please make sure they fill it out. It should stay in the yellow folder. Books read at home AND at school can be recorded on the logs. Students have until the end of October to read the ten highlighted types of books on the Log. Please remember to have your child complete at least two sessions of Reflex (to the green light) and two, 20 minute sessions of Dreambox each week!
